About us
Your hosts Rose and Pete
Hosts Rose and Pete are experienced hosts and have run a Backpackers accommodation in Paihia for many years as well as an award winning B&B in Houhora in the very Far North.
They purchased Keriwin in April 2020 and saw it immediately as an ideal retreat due to its quiet bush location whilst being only a few minutes from the CBD, Airport and local attractions.
Their local knowledge is second to none and they love helping out with whatever range of activities you are interested in, whether it be adventure activities in nearby Paihia, scenic and historic sites closer to home or very importantly, their favourite cafes , restaurants and wineries

About the property
Keriwin B&B is located on approx. 6ha (15 acres) of which about 4 ha is mature native bush hosting a variety of native species including most importantly our native Kiwi, who come very close to the house at night foraging on the lawn outside your rooms.
The bush itself has many species but most impressive are the giant Totara and Puriri, offset by large numbers of beautiful Nikau Palms.
Native birdlife abounds and includes Fantail, Tui, Kereru and even the very rare kākā (native parrot) which was only sighted recently. There is a private track where you can experience the bush close up during the day, or try it at night for the glow worm display. Take a red torch and you might even stumble on a Kiwi! (Some nights you will hear them as well).
Exotic birds include doves, quail and rosellas just to name a few as well as some crazy hens who range all over the place during the day. Add 3 completely nutty (but very friendly) dogs who revel in their complete inability to catch even the slowest rabbit and you will never get bored strolling the grounds
The grounds have a small avocado orchard and many fruit trees as well as a parkland area; Pete and Rose are happy to share their produce with you when in season.
There is also a decent sized (55,000 litre) swimming pools that the guests are welcome to use but for safety reasons there may be restricted hours. The perfect way to cool off after a day exploring Kerikeri and the wider Bay of Islands.
Keriwin does not offer a guest kitchen, however there are many outstanding restaurants a short distance away. There are BBQ facilities available if required.
